How much does a WhatsApp bot for business cost in 2026

“How much does a bot cost?” is the question we hear most often. The honest answer: the price is made up of three independent parts, and it’s worth not mixing them up. Let’s go through each one.

1. Development and setup

This is the work of a studio or developer: conversation scenarios, connecting to WhatsApp, an admin panel, testing. This is where the market varies the most — from “free” in bot builders to millions of tenge at large agencies.

It’s important to understand what you’re paying for. A bot builder is cheaper to start with, but you assemble the bot yourself, live inside someone else’s interface and pay for it every month. Custom development costs more up front, but the bot does exactly what your business needs — for example, it shows a client only the slots in your schedule that are actually free, instead of just replying with canned answers.

2. Meta’s rates — there’s a pleasant surprise here

The WhatsApp Business API belongs to Meta, and since July 2025 it charges for each template message sent rather than per conversation, as before. That sounds alarming, but here’s what matters:

  • If the client writes first, the conversation is free. Meta doesn’t charge for any of the bot’s replies within 24 hours of the client’s message. Booking appointments, answering questions, menus, confirmations — all of that costs zero tenge.
  • Only business-initiated messages are paid — for example, an appointment reminder sent a day after the conversation. These are so-called utility templates, and they cost cents — roughly 2–20 tenge per message depending on the country.
  • Marketing broadcasts are the most expensive — but a booking bot doesn’t need them anyway.
The practical takeaway: for a bot that clients message themselves (bookings, requests, questions), the bill from Meta will be close to zero. You’ll mostly pay for reminders — and that’s a few dollars a month even with hundreds of bookings.

3. Infrastructure

A bot needs a server that runs around the clock. For a small business, an inexpensive virtual server at 3,000–5,000 ₸ a month is enough. Plus a phone number: a regular SIM card registered to the business or its owner will do — it’s needed once, when the number is registered.

Bottom line: what to budget

  • One-off: developing a bot for your task — by agreement; connecting and setting up the number with Meta is usually included in the work.
  • Monthly: server (~3–5 thousand ₸), Meta messages (usually up to 5 thousand ₸), support — by agreement. Many studios, ours included, bundle all of this into a single subscription fee so the business doesn’t have to think about Meta’s rates at all.

One last piece of advice: beware of offers like “a WhatsApp bot without any Meta, cheaper”. These are unofficial schemes that end with the number being blocked — we covered them in a separate article.
